Midterm Struggles

I have a tendency of becoming nervous and having anxiety as deadlines approach their end. A perfect example is currently happening with my intro to computer science study guide. The professor has been kind enough to provide us with a study guide to prepare the students for the midterm and I'm thankful for it. I do not know if I'm the only student struggling to find answers for this 50 question study guide, but I'm having a hard time so far. Some of the wording in the questions are not matching what I'm looking for in the textbook. So for now I'm skipping the questions that I can not find and moving to easier questions to at least try to feel somewhat accomplish for the day.

I'm back at tackling the same study guide after a good nights sleep and date night with my wonderful husband. He has taken time to help me out by giving me some suggestions to find answers for the intro to computer science study guide. So far it is working and I am finding answers by picking keywords out of the question and using the reference pages in the end of the book to direct me towards the pages with the specified subject matter. Happy to have completed one study guide I shall move onto the next with a new knowledge of how to tackle the next one!

Midpoint of the semester!

This first semester has been full of excitement in school and at home. I have made the acquaintance of very nice people in all of my classes. Some of them have helped me out this semester and some I have helped. I truly appreciate the help from those that have been there to offer me advice and help push me in the right direction on assignments!

This week has been crack down and study for midterms. Home has kept this week full with doctor appointments, however everything still fits in my week. Scheduling has been important this semester and has helped me see the gaps that need improvement. I am also transitioning my weekly written planner to link a virtual calendar with my email in hopes of moving one step closer to preparing for online management of projects.

I wish you all luck with the rest of your time in college! It's been fun!  :)

Busy semester off to a good start!

Life has its way of challenging us all. I have had my fair share over the last couple of weeks. Allow me a few minutes to share with you. First, my car decided she wanted some extra attention a couple of weeks ago. I was out shopping with my husband and kids in tow and my reliable car decided she liked the parking lot at Payless Shoes store and wanted to stay longer than I had planned. We called a friend for a jump start and coasted home in no air conditioning, windows that would not go down any further, and no music to cheer up the hot crew. After having to call a tow company to bring my sad car to the shop I learned the next day that the alternator needed to be replaced along with a few belts too. I was happy to hear they could get her out the door that day but the fee was one for my record repair book!

The next week my lovely dog decided it was his turn for some attention. He began to limp in the evenings and did not want to step on his back feet much for several days. After a visit to the vet the diagnosis was hip dysplasia, for those of you like me new to this term it is the beginning of arthritis for dogs. :( Poor puppy!! Now for the rest of my dear dogs life he will be taking joint supplements. Getting old happens to us all folks, even the pets we love!!

School has been going great! I have finally gotten a solid schedule down to balance studying, housework, Salsa classes (much needed once a week!), cooking, and of course quality time with my young family! This coming weekend we even have plans for a small family vacation out of town! YAY!

First impression of NWFSC

How about those security guards on campus?! I have not met one yet but they were formally introduced to my car on the first day of classes. I got a parking warning from the security officers. Apparently yellow lined spaces are for the staff...Oops! Well learned that lesson the hard way. :/  So from now on I will be sticking to the white lined spaces, thanks!

Classes got off to a great start! One teacher presented the entire semester including assignments and classwork and made me feel very comfortable about passing. Another professor made it clear I was going to earn my grade fully with projects and reading assignments. Although the class with all of the work will require more time and focus from me, I get to focus on my desired career path and gain practice with aspects that I probably would not have worked on, on my own. I also have one online class that will be an experience but it is an introduction to Computer Science so hopefully taking it online will be relevant. That class does not seem overwhelming just has its fair share of reading as well.

I also have two young boys, a dog and a husband to care for at home. We have a great little family and I am very happy with our routines.

Thank you for your time and I hope to have you as an audience next week!
